MUS

The current office bearers are Prof. Dr. JVS Prakash (Honorary President), Dr. Kabilan Saminathan (Honorary Secretary), Dr. R.Srivathsan (Honorary Treasurer). It is a non-political and non-profitable organization of practicing urologists and residents. The Urology residents become associate members of the society and participate in various MUS activities. The main objective of the society is to bring together all the urologists and establish friendship and goodwill. It also helps in exchange of thoughts and sharing of knowledge during clinical case presentations. These endeavors help to enhance the standards of urology care. The academic sessions are carried out monthly where interesting case presentations are done by urology residents and consultants. There are also expert talks by eminent members from all over the country and abroad. Talks are also given by eminent members from other allied specialties. These help the urology residents as well as the practicing urologist to further their knowledge. Surgical operative sessions and workshops are also conducted regularly to help acquire new skills and techniques and to stay abreast with the latest advancements. Classes on research methodology is also carried out by eminent persons to enhance the research activities and journal publications of the residents and academically interested urology colleagues. The MUS also maintains liaison with other regional and national organizations to help establish contact and communication with the outside with aim to gain high standard of urology practice and friendship. The society conducts yearly Dr. Lakshmi Sankaran Memorial CUE where eminent and prominent members share knowledge by presentations, Orations, video sessions for the MS general surgery postgraduates and Urology residents. Prof. A. Venugopal medal exam is conducted yearly once for the MBBS undergraduates and MS General surgery post-graduates. This is to help develop interest in the field of urology and create awareness in urology for the younger generation. To motivate the urology residents yearly once Prof. C.Chinnasami and Prof. A. Rajasekaran gold medal exams are conducted. The annual conference, MUSACON is held in a grand manner where in addition to academics the urologist family members are invited in a unique manner to help build relationship and bonding with each other.
